Our Banner Elk Rentals are located in one of the best regions of the High Country near all of the Banner Elk NC Vacation Spots that vacationers love. Read on to find out more about some of the infamous Attractions in NC that are near our Sugar Mtn Vacation Rentals. We encourage you to check out all of the popular Western NC Attractions in the High Country at least once. If you visit Banner Elk, Sugar Mountain and the vacation spots surrounding our area but have never checked out places like Grandfather Mountain or spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway, you are missing out; these spots can’t be missed!

Grandfather Mountain

Grandfather Mountain NC is an infamous Attraction in the NC Mountains located by our Cabin Rentals and Banner Elk NC. Renowned for its Hiking Trails Grandfather Mountain NC, Grandfather Mountain State Park is a large area that many love to explore when they visit and stay in our Sugar Mountain Real Estate Rentals. Plan to visit this high rising mountain, which has an elevation of 5,946 feet and you can visit the animal park where animals such as white-tailed deer, bears, bald eagles and more live throughout the year. Also, Linville’s Grandfather Mountain is known for the Mile High Swinging Bridge, a 228-foot suspension bridge that connects an 80-foot chasm located atop the peak. At various points on the bridge you can look down at the ground, more than a mile below you. You can visit Grandfather Mountain and walk across the Mile High Swinging Bridge when you stay in our Banner Elk Rentals.

NC Linville Caverns

Linville Caverns is another one of the top NC Mountain Attractions that visitors to our area love. The caverns are located near Linville and our Banner Elk Rentals on Sugar Mountain. When you visit you will be given a guided 30-minute tour in which you will be taken into various “rooms” of the caverns where the actively forming limestone caves are still growing. Visitors are asked not to touch the limestone within the caverns; however, you can feel free to snap as many pictures as you like. The caverns are very interesting and definitely worth the trip. You will learn more about the history of the caves and see numerous interesting limestone formations.

Linville Falls

Linville Falls is one of the infamous Scenic Waterfalls NC that people love to visit on the NC Blue Ridge Parkway. Linville Falls are located at Milepost 316.4 and they fall more than 90 feet into the Linville River Gorge below. Visitors like to hike the short Linville Falls Trails that lead to various observation points where you can look out and take pictures. In addition to Linville Falls NC there are various other Scenic Waterfalls NC in the High Country that are worth visiting.

Blue Ridge Parkway

The NC Blue Ridge Parkway celebrates its 75th Anniversary this year (2010) and more and more people are discovering this hidden gem in the mountains of Western North Carolina. A scenic, two lane driving road, people like motorist, cyclists, hikers, picnickers and more love to enjoy it and its many offshoot trails and roads. Some of the popular points and Blue Ridge Parkway Hiking trails that are close to our Cabin Rentals and Banner Elk NC are the Linn Cove Viaduct, the Beacon Heights Trail, the Tanawha Trail and the Flat Rock Trail.

NC Ziplines

Ziplining is new to the High Country but adventure enthusiasts have loved flying through the tree tops from a suspended cable for decades. Enjoy going NC Ziplining at the two parks in the High Country that offer this type of adventure. The largest park in the state is located atop Seven Devils at Hawksnest Ziplines.
